The Disco Era ( penned 1983 )

The traditional sitars and tablas are put to rest,

By the latest music from the disco-crazy West.

All talls, shorts, fats and leans,

In their garish shirts and jeans.

Men and women dancing to and fro,

To the drum beats at a disco show.

In those dimly lit rooms and halls,

Those zig-zag movements to the husky calls.

Its music, lights, cigarettes and chewing gum,

With clubs, Nites, soft drinks, Vodka and Rum.

Lost in a swaying and swinging crowd,

To flashy lights and music so loud.

In disco world, disco moods, its disco time,

None hearing the midnight clocks chime.

Away from tensions, fears, doubts and worry,

“Aao Na Dance Kare” with “Hari Om Hari”.

In this short, crazy, tempting freedom,

Far from the strains of life so humdrum.

In disco moods, in disco ways,

Its disco culture, the era says.
