The Conquered Scars

The Conquered Scars

He 'scarred her for life',

Yet he couldn't break her self esteem.

He ruined her life,

Distorted her gorgeous face,

Burnt her beautiful soul;

Still, could not crush her bravery.

He didn't think for a second before committing such a heinous crime,

The fact that he was about to burn her life to ashes;

Perhaps, didn't strike him hard.

The little bottle of that dreadful liquid was being carried by him,

Revenge had totally taken over his mind.

He was once her 'lover',

Luck didn't favour him;

For when he proposed to her, she rejected,

'Male ego' couldn't bear this rejection;

All he was concerned of, was to seek his revenge.

He walked past her in a hurry,

Quickly opened the lid of the bottle he was carrying;

The crime was committed.

He burnt her face with the acid he was hiding,

The droplets fell on her face;

Her face started burning,

She screamed in pain yet it wasn't healing.

Fortunately, she was rushed to a hospital,

She was lucky enough for her life was saved.

But what is this life for her now?

Her mesmerizing eyes now lost their vision,

The charming smile could no longer be seen;

She'd spend hours before the mirror to try out makeup,

And now the very look on her face scared her soul.

She couldn't believe she lost everything within a few seconds;

Her beauty was lost and so was her self confidence.

"Is this life worth living?", she would often think,

The fact that her criminals were behind the bars,

Didn't strike her at all.

She was hopeless and broke down often,

Had no clue about how to start her life again.

Her mother's brave warrior she was;

She knew she couldn't give up,

Life had knocked her down;

And she was ready to fight back again.

That man had burnt her face and ruined her life indeed,

Despite all odds, she didn't let him burn her dreams too.

She fought back,

Stood up for her rights;

Gave herself a second chance,

For she knew what a courageous lady she was.

She didn't want anyone's sympathy,

She was proud of the girl she became.

The man scarred her for life,

He still could not scar her ambition and dreams;

For she was and will be, a winner forever.
