Taken By Surprise
Taken By Surprise
Morning it was
A beautiful one
Sipping on my tea
With work all done,
I came into my old storeroom
Where things were all stacked, cleaned and broomed.
I opened that big carved wooden box
Which mom had always talked about
I opened it thinking what would it have
Some old broken pieces, some which would have worn out.
But to my surprise, I came across
A piece of pink paper addressed to me
It was from someone who was dear to me.
It brought a smile and some tears
of joy
When with it was a little toy.
A few lines for me from grandpa dear
Who left a little special gift for me
There it was, a small little clock
The same as grandpa's
Which went on tick-tock.
Love and blessings were all it had
Missed him too and felt so sad.
But it did bring in thoughts of
All good times
Like a bright star from heaven, I saw him shine.
The moments we had spent had
Now become memories in a click,
Some we still remember, gather and pick.
