As you slowly fall asleep in my arms

I feel your soft breathing

Against my skin

As you close your eyes,

I hope you see me there

I gaze at your tired face tracing every little detail.

I see your eyelashes dancing

In the afternoon breeze

Your eyebrows relaxed

Hiding behind your dark luscious hair

Your lips, with a slight smile

Shining in the sun overhead

Slowly, your fingers

Intertwine with mine

Holding me close

Like you’re never letting go

As you slowly wake,

Your sleepy sparkling eyes

Lock-on mine

After all these years

Your gaze still manages to

Make my heart skip a beat

And make my stomach toss and turn

As you lean in close,

I wonder if you can hear my heart in my head

With my eyes closed

I can feel you’re the warmth of your breath on my face

At just that moment

I hear a ringing

A sound that wakes me up every morning.
