Strangers
Strangers
We met as strangers in a metro standing
Facing one another but not seeing each other
Not talking to one another just staring for some time,
Then looking elsewhere till destination is reached
Saw her always same compartment same place,
I would wonder where she was working
Till one day she was missing thought, she Is on leave,
The next day she was there, same place same compartment
Thought it's high time we talked, smiled at her, she smiled back,
The metro stopped for some time, asked her name,
Smiled and said Swathi, your name Rohit
I said,
The journey became interesting, we met for coffee
She looked at me in sadness, I asked her reason why,
Tomorrow is Rakshabandhan, no brother to tie Rakhi.
I looked at her Your brother, is right in front of you.
She smiled and asked you will you
Allow me to tie?
Sure I said, come home this is my address,
She did come and tie Rakhi on my wrist,
Wondered at the beauty of this festival,
Met as strangers became brother and sister,
Love connects in strange ways on this festival,
For Rakshabandhan is one of its kind.
