Stargazing

Stargazing

If the fallout of stars flows through my veins,

Then it’s no wonder I gaze up at that twinkling sky and ponder.

If the life that beats in my chest belongs to the moon,

Cratered and cracked by these eons of aches and pains,

Then I’ll cling to the thought of being with you soon.

Somewhere out there in the cosmos our story was written,

The ink dipped in the blackness between galaxies,

With only the tails of comets and meteors to listen.

Back on earth it’s easy to feel so small and insignificant,

But never forget our love is burning bright, it’s magnificent.

The supernova of emotion I feel when our gravity collides,

Condensing, coalescing, to create something so everlasting.

Across every mountain, every sea, the lakes and the tides,

Your heart sits at the center of my universe, where it belongs,

Where I wait for the clouds to clear from the starry skies.
