Simply Not Just a Teacher

They say oh! you're just a teacher.

Simply teaching, playing and enjoying long breaks.

I say It's not just as simple as slicing cakes.

They call me Ma'am, sometimes Mumma or Ms.

I say being a teacher is much more than this

Am not just a teacher, teaching them to read and write

But like a mom expressing love, care, and solace when in fright.

Pacify them when they cry or have a bad day.

Just be there for them in every way.

Am not just a teacher, who makes them learn

But also a friend to play with them and have fun.

Not just a teacher, teaching them to think quick

But also a doctor who spots the child when sick.

Not just a teacher, educating a child

But also a cop controlling and disciplining when they go wild.

Not just a teacher, to make them explore, inquire and learn

But also a photographer, to click and share the pictures of everything they learn.

They say oh! you're just a teacher simply following your passion

I say yes, but It's nothing less than a devotion.
