Return Gift

I have gifted many friends several things, and have received mixed reviews but today it was totally different as all I received was amazed faces, eyes glittering with curiosity and a priceless smile.

They were excited, I sensed it by their gaze;

As they all stood awestruck and amazed.

They asked me,

What was under the gift wrap?

But without further ado,

They cheered,

Shouted out loud birthday song

And welcomed me with claps.

There was glitter in their eyes,

And my heart melted.

It melted, by the way they smiled.

They asked, how old have I turned?

I told them 26!

They applauded;

Applauded 26 times, all with fun.

And, being there at that moment

Was like a lottery I had won.

They asked me,

I should have informed them earlier

About my birthday.

But then wouldn’t I have missed,

Excitement and twinkle in their eyes

That made my day.

They told, if they knew

They would have presented me

With hand-made cards.

But they were unaware,

I was already delighted

By their selfless approach and regards.

Was impressed by their kind gesture,

And today, I witnessed a priceless treasure​.

They came near me, congratulated me,

And my heart melted, witnessing their playful glee.

I swear my heart pounded, as I stood by them all surrounded.

They thanked me twice thrice, but all I wanted was that priceless smile.​
