Reflection
Reflection

A bunch of leaves green
Which formed a shrub dense
Was lighted up in glory
By shining, shimmering sunlight;
Glistening, tantalizing,
Alive with animation
The light seemed to enhance
The vegetation with vitality.
Came sunset and
Darkness deepened
As dull as death
Quenching the splendour
Of the leaves awhile.
I saw a rare reflection
Of myself in the spectacle -
I too seemed to shine
By the reflected light
Of a higher source
Though overwhelmed
By the earthier forces
From time to time.
And then my heart
Sent forth a prayer
That I have the strength
To sustain myself
In His Image
All through my lifetime
Until the moment
I am linked with Him
For everlasting eternity.
