Pleasure And Pain
Pleasure And Pain
The two pillars, on which human life, does rest;
They are pleasure and pain.
The cause and result of human conquest.
The root, of all loss, and gain.
We must worship God,
For what he did ordain;
And thank the wisdom of the lord,
Who gave us loves pleasure,
To conquer hatred’s pain.
For, of all teachers,
They are the best,
Only, if we could take their lessons soon;
And of all creatures, he is the wisest,
Who recognizes this beautiful boon!
If only our minds could withstand,
The knowledge which we need to understand;
Then like him above, we too, below,
Would live a life, that would be grand.
These two are really,
Not birds of the same feather,
Nor two sides of the same coin.
Born, as an antidote; for each other.
For moving from one,
Into another-
From the shining sun,
To less favorable weather!
He makes these occur,
To jolt us awake,
Oh god! Man, ponder over these shocks,
For, your own, and humanity’s sake.
So that we may not, give in to lies,
And once again, into the world be cast,
So, we might finally rise,
Embrace, love’s pleasure, discarding hatred’s pain, at last!
