Patch Of Sunlight
Patch Of Sunlight
Walk back and forth
Same old street, pigeon droppings,
The same old man cleaning his car
Looks at me with the same old expression
Like I’m going to change any day
Into something else.
Come a long way but haven’t moved an inch
Carrying a suitcase full of small insights into life,
That sometimes feels too heavy,
And sometimes way too light.
Walking back and forth,
Same old street,
Same old dog on the porch,
Looks at me with the same old expression
Like he was expecting something different this time.
I look at him
Comfortable, content,
Bathed in the warm golden afternoon light,
And tell him, it's going to take sometime
Before I find my own
Patch of sunlight.
