On the Footpath ...
On the Footpath ...
Go and see through
The myriads of pains
Of all helpless people
And their relentless hard toil
Day in and day out
Right on the footpath ...
You can't even imagine
How they survive in this world!
You may be passing by
The footpath now and then ...
With your fast and reckless drive
Towards your work or daily duty
Sans any quality time and space
For those helpless human beings
Who really need your unselfish care
As fellow human beings
Right on the footpath !
You may be in a hurry, as usual,
To reach your workplace,
Totally forgetting
All those mere trifles (in your opinion)
That you neglect callously
By the by ...
You may be judging
This system of today's worldly affairs
Very casually ...
In fact, you are too calculative
To feel their real situation
Right on the footpath !
So, no casual escapist remarks
On them who dwell helplessly
Right on the footpath !
Sometimes, I do ponder
Why there is a footpath
Without the footprints
Of humanity and equality ...
I really find it impossible to
Accept that the wealth and fortune
Detach today's people
From humanity and honesty --
The two rarest qualities
In today's perspective.
Yes, I do find myself in total dilemma
As and when, I, too, step cautiously
Right on the footpath !
Isn't it the borderline
Of total discrimination
Right on the footpath ... ?
Isn't it a distorted image
Of the so-called society
In today's perspective,
Right on the footpath ...??
I just ponder again and again
Even after I leave the footpath ...
Still my good heart dwells helplessly,
Right on the footpath ...
