OLD FRIEND

OLD FRIEND

Oh silence, my old friend but now my foe,

Your solace used to heal my broken heart,

But now you echo in an empty home,

Reminding me of love that did depart.

The silence mocks me with its emptiness,

A cruel reminder of a love once shared,

But now that love belongs to someone else,

And I am left alone and unprepared.

The wedding bells will soon ring loud and clear,

A sound that once filled my heart with joy and hope,

But now it strikes a chord of pain and fear,

As I must face a future without her to elope.

Oh silence, you are a comfort in despair,

But now you only remind me of what's not there.
