Old Couple And Evening Tea
Old Couple And Evening Tea

With white flowers sprinkling
fragrance on her shiny cascade,
A sanctified garland of brown beads
in her wrinkled fingers,
In a creme-yellow sari
with golden border,
She sat on the armchair,
Praying for vibrancy and hue
in son's life while hers fade out.
Back in the well-kept garden,
Stood a man in somewhat seventies
holding a baby jasmine plant,
Ready to blossom
like a proud daughter.

A radio vibrates
the melodious voice of Kishore Kumar,
While he looks upon
the plant with love and glee,
Basking in the reveries
of his childhood days.
Time has come to a standstill
for the couple,
The busy city life only flashes
on their newspapers.
Only the evening cup of tea
romances with them even today.
Love is eternal, now they know.
And that's all that matters.
