New saree

New saree

Every month ended with a colour,

It is so fun to match with each other.

Purple, blue, green, black or white,

Each colour was special and bright.

Christmas eve, the colour was red,

Month of goodies, fun and happiness.

I had to look special this Christmas,

Laying in the corner, a saree of my wed.

It was old, but had no choice,

Draped it with love and a purpose.

There was a hole in the edge,

But had no time to change.

Twinkling eyes of my tiny tots,

Received me with so much joy.

Secret Santa, with lovely gifts,

Clip, rose, apple, cherry and toy.

Little girl came so close,

Had something to whisper,

She smiled and said, ‘Ms. Rose,

Take this tassel, to fix it in the corner.

She had seen the hole in the saree,

Thought that, I had lost the tassel on the way.

It was an apt gift of the day to agree,

She was my real Secret Santa to say.

After that day with this new tassel,

My red saree never lay in the corner.

It stood high with pride and no hassle.

Now it was new and received all the honour.
