Nature's Threshold
Nature's Threshold

As I stood by the balcony I saw,
Our world at a pause,
Not a soul in sight,
But the birds were chirping in delight.
The roads were empty,
Because venturing out may be deadly,
But amidst this tragedy,
Only mankind seemed unhappy.
Nature had done its deed,
Shown mankind its place,
Bringing them down to their knees,
For their basic needs.
The air around was clean,
We had all gone green,
Waters were getting pure,
Aquatic life too was finally secure.
Humans were locked in,
Just like how circus animals had been,
Humans la
ughed then,
The animals do now.
Deprived of dining out,
But food many others lived without,
Schools were shut down,
But many hadn’t seen it all year round.
All we can do now is hope,
That humans learn to cope,
That the unkind grow kinder,
And the unwise grow wiser.
The crisis may do some good,
Give humans some time to brood,
To understand the value of small things,
Like an outdoor walk-in spring.
Broken families may grow closer,
Over multiple family dinners,
Hope we learn to live in restrain,
May we all come out humane.
