My Sweet Childhood
My Sweet Childhood
Sitting on the terrace
Taking the warmth of the sun
I often sink into oblivion.
Listening to the chirping birds
Sensing the cool breeze on
I often mix the present and the bygone.
Thousands of memories flash.
But I try to summon them one by one.
Among them my childhood memory
Becomes so clear and vivid
That I long to live that again.
My parents, family members and friends
All drift down memory lane.
The ancestral house, the meadow and the pond,
The market yard, riverside and heaps of sand,
The groove, the bushes, the smoke from the roofs and the train,
The school, the teachers and their canes,
The hide and seek, all the fun and mischief with friends,
All dance down memory lane.
