My Paramour

My Paramour

To,

My Paramour; My Dear, Dear, Eve.

A supple rose sits in your hand.

The velvet of its petals reminded me of blood,

The blood of the one born of me;

You.

I grasp the green stalk firmly,

Having forgotten that thorns sit atop its body.

I prick my finger; the blood domes over my skin.

I hiss but laugh. How stupid of me.

Worry creases your brows,

your feet taking a step closer to me.

How strange to see

that my blood nauseated you.

The warmth of your palms encloses my hand.

My bleeding finger felt the warm wetness of your tongue as you suctioned my blood into your mouth.

My sting prickled as your teeth lightly grazed against it.

I was thunderstruck,

Left to stare into your eyes with nothing to say, but so much to feel.

I was left to feel the poison corrupting my veins.

I was left to feel greed, gluttony, lust cloud my mind.

I wanted to step into the welcoming heat of your body.

I wanted you to accept my arms around you.

I wanted my being to become one with yours.

I wanted to be with you and for you.

Oh, but love's keen sting leaves behind a nasty infection.

It oozes a puss as green as envy,

Dirty blood as red as anger,

And blackened skin as ugly as sin.

And yet, I followed you.

As our father banished us,

I followed you.

I followed you because I loved you.

But, will I forgive you?

Will I be able to forget your betrayal?

Will I be able to forget that the devil seduced your mind?

Will I forget this infidelity?

Yes. I will.

For your sake,

I will.

In the name of love,

I will.

I will follow you.

I will love you.

I will bite into every poisonous apple you offer,

As will ever Adam after me.

Signed with all the love this infinite universe can hold,

Yours and yours alone,

Adam.
