My Motherland: An NRI's Pain
My Motherland: An NRI's Pain
To all the people who miss their country of birth.
I left you my motherland for the hope of a better life,
And a better life is what I get.
But the price I paid, was a little more than I thought,
A lot more than what I bet.
I miss the clatter and the chaos of my hometown,
And I miss the food and the fest,
The people I love are far so far,
A pain, a hole in my chest.
The colours, the spices, the climate, the crowd,
The games, the innocence, the people so loud,
I have a little of all in my heart,
I'll carry you within me till the day I depart.
I long to be back whenever I can,
To unite with the land where my life began.
