My Limit

My Limit

I have reached my limit.

I could stay but my heart's not in it.

You treat love like a game,

And I know that I can't win it.

I had a heart full of love.

But you've already spent it.

My heart was something you once owned,

Now you can't even rent it.

I'm not the bad guy,

No matter how you spin it.

You've turned my heart as hard as metal,

Now you can't even dent it.

I've built up a tolerance,

It gets higher by the minute.

The last time I said you can't hurt me,

I finally really meant it.

You brought back all the insecurities,

Just when they had finally relented.

I was optimistic and bright,

Now I'm dark and demented.

You took my hopeful soul,

And you mangled and bent it.

Our future is doomed,

Our fates have been cemented.

This relationship is broken now,

And you can't even splint it.

Thinking back on that first message,

I wish you'd never sent it.
