My Birthday!

I don’t feel the need to announce my age,

As there are so many other things of keen interest,

That we all can happily engage,

Although we are all of the ages different!

 

One thing I can say is I love my life these days,

As I have enough time and leisure my way,

Earlier it was some other things to do and urgent always,

Like things to be mended, lunch boxes to be packed, cleaning craze!

 

Welcome, and farewell parties, to attend and to host,

Preparations and tidying up Kids homework and exams,

Playtime and study time, solving kids’ problems the foremost,

Health, nutrition, pets, vacation, school work, PTM, endless programs!

 

Every few years, moving on postings from place to place,

Packing and unpacking the household most of the time,

Setting up the house, gardening and finding for myself a workplace,

Settled well, but by then, posting again, to move there in some time!

 

All of us would be sad to leave the well-settled place, also our good friends,

Nothing can be done, have to just move on as duty comes first for military men,

Again, start to pack up first, then to unpack in the new station befriend,

Life went on so busily all the time without a single pause, then!

 

Each place taught us many things to learn in life,

Every posting was a blessing in disguise,

For a military man, the most important person is his wife,

As an Air Force Officer’s wife, I had a wonderful time those days; it implies!

 

Now, settled down for good in my hometown, Bangalore,

After all the hustle-bustle of our busy military life,

No packing and unpacking household stuff anymore,

The Air Force taught us to live life beautifully, larger than life! 

 

My birthday gave me a glimpse of my well-lived life of yesteryears,

Not to miss the many vacations and tours we had all around the world,

Singapore, Malaysia, many parts of UK and USA, Cruise ship tour souvenirs, 

Thank you, Lord, for all this and bless me in future too my life and my real world!
