My 11th Birthday
My 11th Birthday
How often do we remember,
The simple things,
Which gave us joy,
The times when things were really simple.
It was my 11th Birthday
More than a decade passed by,
Since I had landed on the earth,
With many memories also passing by
I went to school,
In a new dress,
With sweets to distribute,
And a self-importance of my day
As I came back,
A homemade Vanilla Cake,
And some Custard to go with,
And a 3rd dish, a mix of both
Made by Mum,
A special treat even so yum,
Waited patiently.
As evening came,
We are just the family went to dine
Oh! Just the four of us,
Small things giving so much joy.
But wait!
We never reached the destination,
Had to cross a rail crossing,
And 40 trains crossed that evening
With trains ahead and traffic behind,
Came home at 11:00,
And skipped dinner on a Special day.
But still remember the day,
For the joy was in journey,
Not the destination,
On My Special 11th Birthday.
