Moribund Reminiscence

Who is he that I am going to talk about,

For that, I will take you back to his past.

He upgraded his clan without a doubt,

And mitigated the drudgery of menial caste.

Gave you and me the dignity, freedom and right,

To write, speak, eat, drink, sleep, and feel alive.

Beaconed the aeonic umbra with radiant light,

Entitled us with the privilege to live and thrive.

Legislated laws and shaped the constitution in our favour

To bulwark us against every discriminative Fiat,

Through the myriad of struggle and painstaking labour,

His reforms rang down the curtain on the unjust riot.

That nonpareil icon didn't envisage his posthumous era ,

Would have his people falling apart with one another.

His intensive endeavours reduced to dust of the terra,

By the poltroons ready to throw hands at each other.

Because when the caste bigotry finally bit the dust,

They forgot his unfathomable sacrifices and pain

Took reservation for granted and betrayed his trust,

Waving the white flag against diligence and brain.

So let's hearken back to "those good old days",

When we were all together fighting side by side.

Unleash your potential to be the fittest in the frays,

And let your results speak enough to turn the tide.

Don't forget the tears and sweat that he shed for us,

Preserve verdancy of the tree that once gave the shade.

But don't indulge in lush life to become a wuss,

Keep working hard and never let your sinew fade.

Always remember the gut-wrenching throe,

That we all went through in unison to come this far.

Our unity sustained us amidst weal and woe,

Like a constellation that shines brighter than a star.
