Love viewed with life's glass

I held his hand and walked away,

He hid his smile in a timid way,

He held my hand tightly with the fear of being lost,

Or was it the separation that we both feared, I cannot say

We reached the lake across the street,

Watching the sunset to our eyes treat,

Amidst innumerable noises of passers-by, 

A serene quiet beauty bid goodbye.

His hands enclosed in mine all the time, 

Our giggles and talks made the air resonate and rhyme.

Its love that can make you feel at home despite going astray,

Its love that can replace despair with hopes and make life a serene stay,

It is just love and the soul trades and settles for nothing less and nothing more,

And when you meet love, you feel complete like never before.

It was Mihir, the five-year-old son of our maid,

After having lost his parents in the pandemic, all alone in his house, he stayed.

I brought him home when I saw him crying helplessly and being cared for by none,

Not by blood but by soul we adopted each other since then, as mother and son.

Our bonding grows stronger every day,

I hear him smile and love it that way,

As loneliness gets shattered by our moments of togetherness,
