LIFE'S TWINE

LIFE'S TWINE

Years rolled off the miles; off the chosen track,

Hither I wait! Still thy touch: oblivious to thy smack.

Prudent! Discreet to all deals, twas how thou named thyself,

Hating love to falling too deep: thou strangled in my delf.

Thread by thread! Closer yet close and our skins were one,

All breaths shared warm; all blood shared red: vanity was now gone.

Reminiscing bygone tormented days; thou blushed ashamed too red,

Gummed to my life's lengthy twine; thou kept adorning my bed.

Nonchalant to thy irate eyes; I made thou perch in my soul,

I made thou hold me firm and strong: hold me a closer whole.

I sought no love but thy grinning lips; pink and drenched in lust,

A happy gust to blow thy sweat; if my words thou trust.

Thou may jump off tallest peaks; drown thyself in seas,

Or may fly off! Off the blue; beyond the hills and leas.

In a timid smile I shall pull my twine that hath held us one,

Closer yet closer and yet some more: we must kiss beneath the sun.

This string indeed; as arduous roots shall always keep us strong,

And beneath the gloomy skies of fate; we shall walk along.

There's a shore for destiny; time shall call us alone,

Yet the twine of our mortal life shall aid us face the unknown.
