LAST PET PRESENT
LAST PET PRESENT
About that loss I will write,
Cause, what happened was just right.
Two kittens were born, premature.
Their mother was selfish in nature.
I saw them first, crying with pain.
Covered with ants, I couldn't watch it in vain.
I shifted them, a place safer.
For them, then, I was their saver.
They had to be kept warm,
but cow's milk can even do harm.
I could hear their cry only when I fed,
they were in silence, in their bed.
No energy to even cry!
I prayed for them to at least open their eyes,
But I even prayed for a departure,
The world for 'strong' is itself a danger.
I lost the first one, second night,
But for me, it was a sad sight.
I lost the second, next day mid afternoon,
I thanked god for fulfilling my prayers so soon.
Their survival hurt me,
It was also weak, sad, hence suffering were we.
Once departure they can be in peace,
I needn't worry about the danger that chase.
Rest in peace my dear kittens,
You were my first and last pet presents.
