Ity Ity Bang Bang

I was born in in the summer of ’60 in Chennai city

Grew up in a middle- class milieu with simplicity

School times were good with no adversity

Soon it was time to go to a varsity

 

A college education at IIT

Time just passed with friends and many a cup of tea

At IRMA grappled with development and added complexity

Got placed at a rural job with facility

 

Middle age came with an added responsibility

Made friends with many and all community

Focussed on work it was all about achievability

Success/failures it was related to one’s vulnerability

 

On the verge of sixty, the age of diminishing agility

Pre-occupied with words, verses, and verbosity

These words are written with no anxiety

Helps as a pass time for which there is no paucity

 

Living a life with minimum amenity

Keeping in mind the factor of affordability

WhatSapping with friends brings some affability

News, riddles and birthdays bring some variety.

 

When time pauses it seems like an eternity

At times it is a routine full of banality

Same for all, mind you, it is not a calamity

What with life, a conundrum of an entity.
