Innocent Smiles
Innocent Smiles
In today's competitive world
Man has no time to smile
Still when I go into my reminiscence
I found how it was filled
With millions of innocent smiles
Of my dear ones who loved me
Of my peers who cared for me
Of my friends who pranked with me
I had no worries to haunt me
Nor I was trapped
in greed and prejudices
Nor I was biased for want of
Fame and stardom
Neither and egoistic feelings
Webbed me nor I was tortured
Of sheer ignorance
I enjoyed sitting on my granny's lap
Protected and shielded from
Discouragement and demotivation
Happy picturesque intrigued me
I cannot see the smile in
Too fast-growing child of today
His illuminating and jovial moments
Are fading away from him
His innocent smile had wrapped up
With disrespect and dishonesty
He might have thought of
Building a castle for his family
Or tell us to stop communism
Corruption and capitalism
But the sweet smile charm is
Lost in the crowd of rogues
Where is the better world to live
Where is the treasure of emotions
Where is the warmth of touch and praise
I am longing for that charismatic smile
Bonded with love and peace
Glued by trustworthy friendship
How can you win the race
Without your cheerful smile
How can your efforts be crowned
With successful precious stones
Of hard work and honesty
Listen to my child with an open heart
Give your healthy smile a try
Remove the tremors and sufferings
For your smile is the most valuable
A gift from God to preserve and renew
To make your present gleaming
In the same way, as it was in the past.
