Innocent Smiles

Innocent Smiles

Mother smiles

To the smiles of her boy

Near the fire,

Foraging to feed him every day

For his survival.

The cruel time has abolished

Vermilion from her forehead.

The Widow

And the poorest woman

In her becomes helpless,

Provoking her soul to burn like fire,

Coaxing her to sell

The flesh of her body

In the market of white slavery.

The brutal society can ingest flesh

And make a paltry payment,

But can't allow a mere job.

The mother caresses the son

And her inner soul begs pardon to the innocent smiles.
