Ineffaceable Sojourn

Amidst the fusillade of gunshots we departed from our last breaths

Child in our souls toddled towards each other stoically accepting pangs of deaths

Rubbles of humanity being the harbinger of the savaged annihilation

Tears of pride concocting remnants of guilt with admiration

Does all this valorousness worthy of a resounding reception

For how long will hankering of power swindle innocent perception?

Silhouette of treasured ones flickered as the bullet transcended

Our souls moved to hug them one last time but body felt stranded

Our rendezvous in heaven would be bereft of any cast or creed

Vitiated visions shedding prejudices and religious lore that mislead

Sanguine thoughts waiting with baited breaths for our next arrival

Hoping to meet and embrace you in my arms as a friend and not rival

Journey from here on will be sequestered and forlorn

Let’s make this for each other an ineffaceable sojourn

When the rays of sunshine finally breaks our slumber
