If I Were A Poem

If I Were A Poem

If I were a Poem,

I'd flow through pages.

My genesis, poet's wisdom,

A muse that'd sustain for ages.

Plain folks may feel tedious

To read long running lines.

But I'd also have readers serious

Who'd melt for my metaphors and chimes.

Textbooks would not be my place,

Kids often feel annoyed.

Rather I'd slay in Reader's space,

Magazines and collections conjoined.

For some, it'd just be a read

To learn what I reveal.

Ceaseless attempts for some indeed,

Unravelling what fancy words conceal.
