I wish I was a son

I was not born,

I was killed in my mother's womb.

I could not see this beautiful world,

Just because I was a girl!!

They inquired about it even before I was fully developed,

They didn't even wait for me to come up.

I was waiting to clasp momma's hand,

I was waiting to sleep on my father's lap,

I hoped to see my grandma's face,

Who narrated the tales.

I wanted to hold my grandpa's hand,

And see my brother whom you introduced me as a friend.

But nothing came true,

Because I was killed before I grew.

I can feel tears in mumma's eyes,

I am sorry mom, for carrying me you have paid a huge price.

I just wanted to bring you joy,

I wished to play with all those toys.

But I have only brought you pain,

I wish I was a son!
