I WANT TO PAINT MY GODDESSES
I WANT TO PAINT MY GODDESSES
Saraswati failing her math exam and realizing,
Bad grades do not mean bad brains.
Draupadi wearing shorts;
crowd keeping themselves off,
As they have crucial issues to solve.
Kali and Durga cachinnate
while emptying bottles on weekends,
With girl or maybe their boy friends.
Sita walking out of marriage
That questions her morality,
Yet guiding a way to spirituality.
Annapurna ordered food online
While she lied exhausted on sofa,
Radha whined everytime
she missed her love, krishna.
Ahalya turning her heart into stone
Because her own husband won't believe her.
I want to paint my goddesses
When they are the most real.
For maybe if I paint them a little flawed
A little more humane,
We might just learn to be ourselves
And to accept our women.
