Heaven's Sheep
Heaven's Sheep

Constellations moon and tide
Working side by side
To draw me in and captivate
Lead me all the way
To wonders gate.
Counting stars like heavens sheep
Lulling me to dreamless sleep,
For where could my mind wander
And still, have me recall
When already far outside
The confines of my skull,
It walks among lunar lights
And curls up behind Neptune,
It is pleased to announce
That there is indeed solid bones
To what we’ve called the Gas Giants.
It returns to me sometimes
Enlightened in languages
It will not reveal to me,
Yet in some golden echo
It taps me on the shoulder
And whispers in my ear,
‘This is music from far off places
Come to resonate
In unlikeliest of cases,
Chase this thread
Tug until the garment unravels
And truth stands before you naked,
The blinding light
Of true life's might
Piercing mortal eyes.
Do this if you can,
Try it if you dare
For once it is accomplished
You will become one
Amongst the grains of celestial sands.’
Then others may look up
Crane their necks to far off specks,
Counting stars like heavens sheep
Lulling them to a dreamless sleep.
