HEART GRIEVED

HEART GRIEVED

The last time I saw my mother's face

It was when she threw her smile in a fit of sorrow and her joy traveled somewhere distant.

and a group of women in my family took a turn

Screaming in unison like a choir of grieving mothers

That was when my uncle who experienced too many deaths yelled at me.

Hey boy why are still crying

Don't you know that is high time for you to be strong for your family?

Your mother doesn't need a weak man at this time.

I look up and down to the depth of the earth

The questions queued up in my mind.

Is it not right for a man to shed tears

Are men's tears much heavier than drops

Are men emotionally proven strong

That is when I realised men are their fellow killers emotionally.

Men do cry, their emotions injured.

Men are humans and emotional humans

Tears are medicine, a lifter of a heavy heart.

To cry is a healing

Men's tears are medicine

Their eyes are windows to let out their inner boil.

Men do cry to relieve from heart grieved.
