Hades
Hades
He reigns the underworld with an iron fist,
They say. It's true, conquering those
Dark alleys, and even darker realms
Is not the job of cowards. Thousands of screams,
Cries of the damned, they,
Who have been condemned to cycles of torture,
The fruits of all the wicked and evil,
In their lifetimes. He tends to them all,
Personally, no crime deserves to be left
Unpunished.
It does get a lot lonely at times, and morbid too,
Even for his taste.
It's not that he's all alone.
He does have his queen Persephone and his beloved Cerberus.
But even that's not for all seasons and moments,
He has to lose her to her mother for quite some while,
And how much can the God of the Underworld
Really converse with a canine?
Not that the Olympians are particularly fond of him,
For he resides too farther away for their liking.
Not his fault though, he just knows
And chooses to abide by his responsibilities
A bit more firmly.
His is a dark world, with even darker secrets,
All that will be cursed for mankind
And would be considered the gravest mistakes,
Is punished the harshest by him.
That's how he strives to be,
Fair, just and threatening to all that is immoral.
The ruler of the wretched world
Stands firm, strong, unfazed each moment,
Ruling the underworld with an iron fist,
And no one would ever really want this,
Any other way.
