GIVE ME A CRISIS
GIVE ME A CRISIS
Give me a crisis, an earthquake, a fire, a tornado,
When carefully practised and rehearsed responses
Are swept aside, or rendered inadequate; give me a crisis
When life and death are at stake; decisions have to be made on the spot,
No time for second-guessing, a myriad of what-ifs; the sense of survival
Takes over. Do or die! You will remember the people you meet, oh yes;
You will, vividly, in technicolour, full stereophonic sound, the way they held your eyes,
Did they smoke? Was that unfamiliar accommodation of the time and circumstances?
The memories are burnt into your consciousness. Give me a riot, disorder,
Fighting on the street, buildings burning; mayhem, martial law; guns, guns,
Where’s my gun? Give me a crisis when we meet; give me chaos; to focus
My senses, my thoughts; order builds complacency, a sense of security
Give me a crisis, could our relationship be stronger,
More intense; passionate (do we feel the heat?)?
Just asking!
