I am writing this to honor the Father of our Nation

My one and only source of inspiration

He gave his life for the good of our nation

Surely, he deserves some kind of salutation.

Truth and non- violence were what he taught

Same were the principles for which he fought

To the innocent millions hope he brought

And finally, freedom was what India got.

He thwarted off conquerors from over the seas

And showed them the power of his inner peace

For all this, he never took any fees

He only wanted the suffering of the people to cease.

Bringing glory to our country was his aim

In no time, the soul of India he became

His deeds earned him a lot of fame

Yes, Mahatma Gandhi was his name.
