FREE DOOM TO FREEDOM

Freedom is the way one want to live.

How can you say I’m absolutely free?

I belong to a free nation,

That too is free from terrorists’ sensations.

I haven’t encountered any dispossession,

Not fled my home in fear or trepidation,

Not surrounded by honking signals or bloody manifestation,

Not lost someone in firings, bombings or eviction,

Not faced any embarrassment or humiliation,

Not spent even a day in starvation,

Not left education in conflict,

Not changed fashion in verdict,

Not confined to home making,

Not became victim of trafficking.

I’m free from many shackles,

Still engaged in many battles -

Not faced any social exclusion

As I forgot to speak for my inclusion;

I was accustomed to conservative traditions

Not raised voice for some benedictions;

As I count only your good deeds,

You wait for my first misdeed;

Now I want to live for myself,

Not remaining a showpiece of your shelf;

I want to hear my conscience,

As I too have my own mind;

I’m the owner of my body and soul,

None has the right to abuse my role;

I’ll choose the stream of my education,

I’ll choose the path of my profession,

I’ll freely pursue my aspiration,

In spite of your blatant demonstration,

Biases, prejudices and constant comparison.

I don’t have your fear.

Fear also knows my tears.

These do not mark any dejection.

These are signs of my resurrection.

You dug me up for your leisure

In search of directives, caste, sex or religion.

I’m neither a statement of your decree,

Nor a servant of your power.

No paper can bind me.

No threat can afraid me.

I love the gift of God,

Which is mine -

Not your piece of dole.

I have my unique entity.

I also have a place in humanity.

I can be a LGBTQIA+ member, boy or girl

Living in any part of the world,

Earning through petty jobs or owns a firm,

Differently abled with complete worth;

I can be in any stage of life -

                                                        Always endeavoring to thrive!
