Expectations

Expectations

173

The wait in the wink of my eyes

Fossilised turns the promises,

The giggle of multiple lies

Frozen are the expectations;

Thoughts seem to rush!

Pupils glaring hard,

Multiple websites crash

Applications hovering over my face,

Relinquish bored.

Then arrived a day

Though my hair turned a year grey,

Expecting was I,

A phone call though less than a meet

But never did they turn up

Neither with a gift nor a greet.

Expectations!!

Was it ruining my emotions?

Crumbling into prickly grains

From dunes of envision;

A bid on my life

Dependence over others kept to strife,

Overcoming my shortcoming

Even my shadow left untrusted as a being.

This only option did I have,

Lightening the wick of present

To demeanour a future

With ashes of expectation,

To strengthen the roots

And never evade self assumptions.
