Dear Well Wishers
Dear Well Wishers
All my dear well-wishers,
My aunts, my uncles,
Mummy, daddy and dear Grandma,
Please don’t dismay,
I am aware of what you wish for,
I hear you when you say,
That I have to be a good girl!!!
Keep my shirt buttoned up,
My dress below my knees,
No laughing out loud,
No climbing trees,
Stay away from cricket and hockey,
Play with teddy bears and Barbie,
But I beg you all to understand,
I have to be true to who I am,
I cannot be your definition of me,
I have to follow my heart,
I must soar free,
And so….,
I will be jumping in puddles,
gn-justify">Running free chasing the breeze,
Scream when I am in pain,
Laugh out loud when I feel glee,
I will punch, I will kick,
I will push and fight,
I will argue, I will question,
I will be my own knight …
My dear well-wishers,
Open your eyes and see,
Beneath the frizzy hear and stained shorts,
The good girl is always present in me,
My goodness lies in the purity of my heart,
The strength of my soul,
It lies in my thoughts and beliefs,
Not in me being dressed up and demure.
My dear well-wishers,
See my goodness in all that I am,
Not in what you want me to be
Not in what you want me to be.
