Dear Mother
Dear Mother
Dear mother
Where were you when life dealt harshly with me?
Where were you when life's troubles plagued me?
I was out in the rain and Cold
Exposed to the elements
Without shelter or clothing, save my tattered rags
Without food in my mouth, except ones I scrounged up from wastes
I fended for myself
And struggled to survive
Knowing I do not have the luxury others do
As seen through windows
I lived a life of solitude
Loneliness and want were my constant companions.
Why did you abandon me? Your responsibility?
What wrong did I do wrong in coming to the world?
I came and no hands cradled me till I fell asleep
No one taught me life
I had to learn for myself
Tell me, dear mother, why did you leave me?
