Snow Thoughts
Snow Thoughts

I anticipate the snow
Soft flakes glittering in the lamplight
Spreading a white blanket over cars and sprinkling the grass
I conjure the varied shapes and sizes on my face and coat
Their whispered presence a visit from winter
leaving a token of itself on me
Snow has always been a wonder to me
I’ve watched at the mere thought of it
Waiting at windows and pushing aside blinds to check
Even though It no longer affects my life in the same way
Imagined snow days remain in my head as ghosts of a past life
The disappointment of finding I still had to go to work
written in my brain as impressions from strong handwriting
appearing in the sheets of my present.
