Cuckoo
Cuckoo
There was once a mango tree
In my backyard,
which dressed up every summer
With countless green stars
And there was a cuckoo that sang by it
Those peachy walls with sparrows
And white jasmines with bees
Butterflies I could hold
Happiness two fold
Eat till you burp
Dance till you drop
There was no place like home
Or the neighborhood shop
Run, not walk
Jump on the puddle
Forgotten paths Forgotten hours
And yet finding home
Was never
a riddle
There he was, Near she was
There they were
Everywhere, we always were
He smiled and then I smiled
Heartbeats were heard amidst the crowd
For it was when the coy ever started
Weeks and months, never said a bye
Holding hands was the new joy
When the time came
Paths did change
Yet, hearts never shook
A pinch yes, but never broke
Firsts of everything
meant we were young
Summer was back
And the cuckoo continued its song!
