Companions
Companions
I met two friends
Ocean of tranquility and
City of complexity.
Seated at the cusp of both,
I asked, what keeps you together?
The sea, in her hypnotic voice, replied
I knew the land, long before a city stood here.
It brought sailors and voyagers to me,
Brave men who built the city you stand upon.
Now, this city meets me here every day,
I speak in volumes, and it listens quietly.
He takes in my raging storms resiliently,
Without once breaking his smile.
My waves, violent and relentless, break down
Completely, when they touch his shores,
Such is his power over me.
Although he would never stop me,
I would never cross him.
Such is my love for him.
I turned, and the deep, chaotic voice,
Resonating millions of lives, said,
The ocean is far too modest,
For it is I, who pours all my troubles, fears,
In her waters, and the kind lady,
In her magnanimity, returns only
Nourishment and cool breeze,
Such is her grace, such is her beauty.
I enjoy the talks we have,
She comes, dressed in waves,
And I, in the lights you adorn me with,
She listens to the static in my mind,
Calms me with her breath, and
Cleanses me with her waters,
Such is the solace I find in her.
The ocean, ever-flowing,
And the city, ever-changing,
Found in each other,
Constant companions.
