Care

Care

1 min 101 1 min 101

You continue scratching the small dandelion tattoo

On your neck

Thinking

“If only I had flowers under my skin”

Maybe then your love would have found you beautiful enough

But sometimes your eyes wander

And you stare at the blades for hours

Thinking

“If only I could slash the remaining strings”

Maybe then your love will carry you in its arms and shield you away

And when you finally get up from your antique armchair

And run your fingers down your hair

You think

“If I can stop dreaming about love”

Maybe then love will find you

In some intersection

Or the empty parking lot

Or maybe in your favourite bar

Or by the park bench near 15th Avenue

Then you giggle foolishly

And straighten your half wrinkled shirt with your hands

And wonder

"Does love even care?"
