Captive
Captive
I could never be free in this world
Because they won't let me be
They have made their own laws that are supposed to govern me
Why should I unfollow them, I won't be in the race to live
These laws are tough , they are rigid like a manacle
There is not any happiness it could give
I could never be free in this world
Because they won't let me be
They are bound by the stereotypes of their thoughts
Definitions I am supposed to adjust myself with
Failing so I would lose myself the right to express
Why should I speak different than what they tell
There is not much peace it could give
I could never be free in this world
Because they won't let me b
e
They don’t think about how I feel
But they are very sensitive, I must know that
Forgetting which I would be reminded that I am a girl
Why should I not remember that, I have to survive
There is not much regality it could give
I could never be free in this world
Because they won't let me be
But the day I breathe my last
I would be filled with courage and strength
Then I shall fly like a sweet bird
Across the paradise of the limitless sky
Happiness would brim in my heart
Peace would flutter through my wings
My dignity would glide across the blue
That is when I would have found it
That is when I shall be free . . . .
