Canopy of Love

Canopy of Love

247

No matter of its cost, nor its color or texture,

A little girl’s longest robe, connecting the earth to heaven.

Providing enough warmth in a bone-chilling winter

Wiping out forehead’s sweat after a day’s play,

Dusting the dust to the ground,

Even respite from an unprecedented rain,

Tattered part serving a doll’s gown.

Kissing the sky and falling the ground,

Swing !!

In the branches of a tree

Cooling afternoon of a summer’s noon,

The canopy of love, the divine retreat,

Stepping into the first stage of woman-hood,

Searching and rejoicing,

Mother’s replica in the mother’s robe.

Time flies from days to months to years,

Recollecting that softness,

That divine smell,

 That bonhomie-ness,

A canopy of love…the divine robe…
