Azure Wings

I'd walk that path every morning

Besides a little park.

The grass so green beyond the fence,

Tall trees bursting with colors.

Atop the fence, every morning,

Those tiny birds would perch.

Their bodies bronze, their wings so blue,

They'd flit amongst the flowers.

I remember stopping one morning

Besides that very park

To watch two birds upon their fence;

Such vibrant, chirpy lovers.

They danced a happy tune that morning,

Their song is so joyous, so pure.

So light their steps, so quick their twirls,

A blur of deep azure.

A few months passed; went back one morning

To find no little park.

The ground now grey beyond that fence,

All stones in place of flowers.

To the fence that gloomy morning

I walked with a saddened step.

No blue wings fluttered, no song was heard,

In this plot of cold steel towers...
