The Cage
The Cage
Pacing restlessly in quick, powerful strides,
Unchallenged, with head held high,
Pride emanating from each step...
An animal is caged.
The bars unbreakable,
Resolutely unbent through all efforts to escape.
The world walks by outside, oblivious, uncaring,
Watched enviously with eyes burning with a feral flame.
A flame slowly growing,
Consuming its unwary victim from within,
Until all that's left are the grey ashes blown in the wind,
And the iron bars that still imprison the fiery spirit glaring out from within.
